Sponsorship

Who we are

Since 1975, Council on Aging of Elkhart County has operated as a non-government nonprofit entity serving the Elkhart County aging and disabled through transportation, in-home care, physical and mental health activity center, Medicare counseling, insurance savings programs, tax preparation, and resource library services.

Why we serve

Most of our clients have no family to rely on for constant assistance or a significant income.  We serve the grandmas, grandpas, moms, and dads that just need that help every day because of their physical and cognitive limitations.  COA is there for them because, if it wasn’t, they would not be able to have the quality of life they deserve.  Think of those that are wheelchair-bound having no choice but to struggle to the bus stop for vital transportation.  Think of those that can’t hold a driver’s license because they don’t have the cognitive ability anymore stuck at home and isolated.  Without us, the people we love would have missed doctor’s appointments, missed treatments, less socialization, and less freedom.

Why donate to Council on Aging

As the community reopens, the pandemic continues to be a very real threat for one particular demographic: the aging.  In an effort to ensure our clients receive the care needed, we have implemented mandatory use of personal protective equipment for all field staff and clients to avoid exposure to COVID-19 and disruptions in service. Recovery for our clients will not be a short-term resolve.

With multiple health issues and COVID-19 concerns, the aging need help from those they trust.  Donations are critical in making our services possible.  In addition to a variety of free services from our Life Enrichment program, the costs of fee-for-service programs are reimbursed at only a fraction of the actual costs by grants or client insurance.  Elevated safety protocol is increasing this financial burden.  Overall, we need funds to continue to serve the senior community and continue to go above and beyond promoting their wellness.

Sponsoring helps the community impacted the most during this time.  You can be a reason why one more person avoids the virus because they did not have to shop for themselves.  You can be the reason one more person gets to a doctor’s appointment because they had a ride.  You can be the reason one more person feels safe in their own home.
